But seriously, my wife had this idea to create a blog of our experiences in our new, beautiful hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. If you aren't aware, Pittsburgh is an historic city, teeming with life, creativity, atmosphere, and verve. Not to mention it's own colorful regional dialect. So, as we came to fall in love with our new hometown, we decided to document all the things Pittsburgh has to offer.
First, however, is a little background on Rachael, myself, and our son Ian. We're originally from Erie and came to live in Pittsburgh by way of Virginia. Rachael spent a year teaching high school, while I played the role of househusband and stay-at-home pops. We learned a lot from our time in VA, but mostly that we were northerners through and through. That was what motivated our decision to move to Pittsburgh. The rest, as they say in the movies, is history.
However, our choice not to relocate to our hometown of Erie was entirely deliberate and motivated by the need to create a foothold in someplace new. Pittsburgh had always been a haven of excitement and life while we were growing up in Erie. It made the perfect setting for our family's next adventure. That's how we got here, and that's the story so far.
So this is where the chapter begins. Yinzerfication is intended to be loosely formed around our experience and journey to becoming Yinzers in our newly native land. We'll be blogging about food, nightlife, concerts, cookouts, all the kid stuff we can find, the parks, and pretty much anything else Pittsburgh has to offer. So tune in and don't forget to sound off in the comment section!
